Setting up Contacts and Guardians on your Xplora device

Here’s everything you need to know about contacts and guardians, and how to manage them in the Xplora app.

👨‍👩‍👧 What’s the difference between a Guardian and a Contact?

  • When you activate your child’s device, you automatically become its guardian. Each device can have two guardians, and you can add one more guardian later on if needed.
  • Both guardians have equal access and full control over the device via the Xplora Guardian app. Each guardian can manage up to 10 devices from their app.
  • Contacts are people added by a guardian so they can call and message your child. Each device can have up to 50 contacts.
Feature Guardians Contacts

📝 How to add a contact

Follow these steps to add a contact to your child’s Xplora device:

  1. Open the Xplora Guardian app
  2. Select the device you wish to manage
  3. Tap Contacts (or Whitelist Contacts on the HMD Fusion X1 Phone)
  4. Tap Add new contact
  5. Fill in the contact details:
    • Name and surname
    • Phone number. Make sure to include the correct country code, and enter the phone number without any leading 0, or additional spaces or dashes.
    • Add a profile photo for the contact (optional)
  6. Tap Save

After saving the contacts on the app, they will now appear on your child's watch and they will be able to communicate with the added contact.

💡 Certain providers offer basic plans that limit the number of contacts able to communicate with the watch. Before choosing a plan, double-check that it covers all the numbers you want your child to be able to call. This will help ensure there are no issues with reaching the watch.

👥 How to add a second guardian

You can add a second guardian to share control over the device.

To add a second guardian:

  1. The person that will become a guardian must install the Xplora Guardian app and create an account.
  2. In your Guardian app, go to Contacts / Whitelist Contacts and follow the same steps as for adding a contact.
  3. Before saving, toggle the option Set as Guardian.

Once added, both guardians will have full access to manage device settings.

❗Both guardians can add or remove contacts, including each other.

✏️ How to edit or delete a contact

You can easily update or remove contacts as needed.

To edit a contact:

  1. Tap on Contacts / Whitelist Contacts
  2. Select the contact you want to edit
  3. Tap on their name and change the name or photo.

💡 If you want to change a contact’s phone number, you will need to delete and re-add the contact.

To Delete a Contact:

  1. Tap on the contact you wish to delete
  2. Scroll down and tap the Delete button

🛡️ Whitelist Contacts

Whitelist Contacts gives you control over who your child can communicate with:

  • Whitelist Enabled: Only contacts you’ve added can call or message your child.
  • Whitelist Disabled: Your child can receive calls and SMS from unknown numbers

You can manage this setting under:
Device's Settings > Whitelist Contacts only

🔒 For safety, Xplora recommends enabling Whitelist Mode to limit communication to trusted contacts only.

🔄 Can I import contacts from another device?

Xplora watches: At this time, automatic contact transfer is not supported. If you switch devices, you’ll need to add contacts manually for each new device.

HMD Fusion X1 Phone: You can transfer data from an old phone to your new phone using your Google account. To back up your old phone’s data, check the user guide for instructions specific to that device.
