Calls on Xplora devices

Xplora devices are designed to help your child stay connected with family and friends in a safe, controlled environment.

Who can call your child?

Parents can add up to 50 contacts to the device's contact list. These contacts can be anyone you trust, such as family members or close friends. Only those saved in the contact list can call the child or receive calls from them.

With the default settings, the device can’t receive calls from numbers outside of the contact list, and it can’t call those numbers either.

❗⌚ Xplora watches do not support calls from hidden numbers or numbers in non-standard formats. To ensure your call goes through, make sure your phone number is visible to others.

How to enable the option to call anyone

As your child grows and you wish to grant them more freedom, you can allow them to talk to anyone. To do this, simply disable the Whitelist contacts feature, which restricts calls to only approved contacts.

To disable the whitelist control, follow these steps:

  1. Open your device profile.
  2. Scroll down to Device Settings.
  3. Find the Whitelist contacts only option and disable it.
    This will allow anyone outside of the whitelist to contact your child.

How do the calls work?

📱Guardians and approved contacts can call the device through the Xplora app, or by dialing your child's phone number directly from their smartphone.

⌚To make a call from their watch or HMD Fusion X1 phone, children can open the 'Phone' feature on their device and select the contact they wish to call.

💡Parents can add photos to each contact via the Xplora app, helping the child easily identify who they are calling.

Traditional calls and VoLTE

Xplora devices use both traditional voice minutes and Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology for calls. 

If the watch is connected to a 4G network and the call uses VoLTE, you will see an "HD" icon appear on the screen.

⚠️ As 3G and 2G networks are gradually being phased out, VoLTE calls are becoming the primary method of communication. For the best experience, it is recommended to use an Xplora Connect subscription or a compatible provider.
